Welcome!
We are always excited about welcoming new patients to our office. We sincerely hope you enjoy your first visit and that we make you feel like it is your office too.
At your initial consultation, you can expect to spend approximately an hour with Dr. Mason and his staff discussing your concerns and receiving an orthodontic evaluation at no cost. Additionally at this visit, dental health is evaluated, the options of orthodontic treatment are discussed, and payment options are outlined for you.
We want you to be able to leave our office with all of your questions answered so please do not hesitate to ask for clarification about any aspects of the treatment or financial options.
What are Braces?
Orthodontic appliances can be made of metal, ceramic or plastic. Some are removable or some may be brackets bonded to the teeth. By placing a constant, gentle force in a carefully controlled direction, braces slowly move teeth to a corrected position.
Gone are the days when a metal band with a bracket was placed around each tooth. You can choose brackets that are clear or metallic color. You can choose the color of the ties that hold the wire in brackets. Wires are also less noticeable than they used to be and the latest materials move teeth faster with less discomfort to patients.
How Long is Treatment?
Length of treatment usually ranges from one to three years, depending on the growth of the patient's mouth and face and the severity of the problem. Early treatment procedures may take as few as six months. After braces, a retainer is needed to keep the teeth stable in their new positions. A patient’s commitment to using any prescribed rubber bands or headgear is an important factor in achieving the most efficient treatment. Only full cooperation of the patient allows the orthodontic goals to be achieved in the shortest possible time. Your new smile will be worth it!
